I love mountainbiking and take every chance to get on the saddle and to explore a new area. Inle Lake and the city Nuangshwe is a special place for the people of Myanmar as well as for tourists. They visit the lake and sorroundings when wanting to escape the busy cities. The flat and calm Inle Lake is a true beauty with the boats and fisher men.

Nyaungshwe – Hand made tofu – Boat on Inle Lake – Maing Thauk Bridge – Red Mountain Estate Winary – We Love Inle Eco Café – Coffee House Inle – A little Eco Lodge – Htet Eain Gu Cave

To rent a MTB is from 6000 – 8000 Kyat for one day at Myo Thu Mountain Bike Rental in Nyaungshwe. A quality mtb with the brand Kaze, good brakes and gears. I began on the west side of the Inle Lake. Untfortunately I was not to impressed because you have to bike on the road with the cars. It is pretty dull and really nothing to look at, except some pagodas. You won’t see the lake because it’s far away from the road. In Kaung Daing is a Tofu hand making for you to visit.

Explore Loi-Khaw mountain for great mountainbike tracks.

Boat from west to east side of Inle Lake

On my way I met up with a girl from Minsk in Belarus, Victoria and we shared a boat. The boat driver asked for 10 000 Kyat but we bargained the price to 8000 Kyat. Crossing the Inle Lake with the bikes it took about 15 minutes to reach the other side.

Maing Thauk – The wooden bridge

On the east side we reached the famous Maing Thauk wooden bridge. It was fun to bike on the 500 m long bridge. The houses was built on poles lying in the water with a boat next to it. It remind me about Venize in Italy.

Wine tasting – Red Mountain Estate Winary

Continuing on the road to Red Mountain Estate Winary and pushing ourself on the last hill. For the wine tasting we ordered four glasses of wine, two white and two red wines, Sauvignon Blanc, Late Harvest, Syrah and Shiraz Tempranillo. With a great view over the Inle Lake and the mountains we enjoyed the hot day in the shadow.

We love Inle Eco Café

For lunch we biked to ”We love Inle Eco Café” in Nyaungshwe close to the Cultural Museum. The milkshakes, food and coffee was to our satisfaction. The tea-leaf salad is fantastic as well as the fruite plate.

Coffee House Inle

A relaxed café with a beutiful view over the mountain and Inle Lake. You find it next to Red Mountain Estate Winary (about 5 minutes biking). Get up on the deck and enjoy your quality coffee together with a donut.

A Little Eco Lodge

In March 2018 the tree house restaurant only been open for three months. Get out of town and let your eyes rest on the mountain hill side and your ears to the birds singing. Sit comfortable on the bamboo chair and lean your elbows on the bamboo table. Take a deep breath and relax. A speciality in Myanmar is the tea leaf salad and I highly recommend you ordering it at the little eco lodge. The staff is serviceminded and make you feel like home. Get a nap in the tree house restaurant after enjoying your meal.
